Big Country Speedway[/caption]It was a warm evening in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The smell of hamburgers, hot dogs and fuel filled the air. Race fans were all over the place. This was Big Country Speedway on Saturday night. And I had the privilege of announcing.

More than 500 race fans and their families showed up to do some serious racing. There were drivers from around the region (and it's not uncommon to catch drivers who come down to compete from the Scottsbluff, Nebraska area either).

From Junkyard Warriors and Super Stock, to Late Model, Grand American Modified and Pure Stock--all classes were featured this past weekend. Additional classes will be featured as the season unfolds.

Some of the highlights of the Main Event winners at Big Country Speedway:

  • Junkyard Warriors Class: #14 Neil Copenhaver
  • Super Stock Class: # 71 Kent Stubbe
  • Late Model Class: #81 Jeff Campbell
  • Grand American Modified: #11 Tom Evans, Jr.
  • Pure Stock: #96 Mike Steward

Thank you to the staff, board, volunteers, fans and race car drivers for making it a memorable evening. And thank you all for allowing me to be a part of the action from the announcer's booth. It was a great night for racing--and if Saturday night is any indication of what the season will hold, we're in for the ride of our lives this year.
