The Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants wishes for children who are seriously ill, has confirmed that Dorian Layton has qualified as a Make-A-Wish Child.

According to a statement sent out on Friday, Dorian Layton, whose family has recently come under investigation by the Department of Criminal Investigation, is confirmed as being a candidate to receive services from the Make A Wish Foundation.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. As part of any referral made to Make-A-Wish, we work with the child’s physician to determine a child’s medical eligibility. It has been determined that Dorian is eligible for a wish and we consider him a wish kid. The privacy of our wish kids and their families is important to our organization. Accordingly, we will provide no further comment on this matter.

Dorian Layton, also called “Ninja Dorian” or “Red Ninja” has made headlines recently, after attending several high-profile events that have been organized in his honor.  His family says that the boy has an inoperable cancerous brain stem tumor.  A crowd sourced fundraising page has managed to raise $1,715 over the last five months.

When contacted by reporters last week, Layton’s Grandmother, Carolyn Hackworth, was unable to comment on the investigation.  Special Agents from the Department of Criminal Investigation and officials with the Natrona County District Attorney’s office have, also, declined to comment as to the nature of the investigation.

Allegations have been made that Layton may not be as sick as was being claimed by his family.  These allegations, at this time, have not been proven, and no charges have been filed in the investigation.
