LCCC May Ask For Money for New Buildings

Laramie County Community College trustees will consider later this month whether to ask local voters to approve a roughly $20 million dollar bond issue for construction of two new buildings on the college’s Cheyenne Campus.

LCCC spokeswoman Lisa Murphy says a new Student Services Building would be located between the college’s dining room and the Rodeo Arena. She says the Flexible Technology Building would be located on the eastern portion of the Cheyenne Campus, and would help accommodate the college’s new welding program as well as some of the courses the college is adding in response to the Niobrara oil play.

Murphy says the new buildings are needed because the college continues to grow, adding that although the buildings are in the planning stages right now, they have actually been needed for some time. LCCC Trustees are expected to consider the building proposals at their February 20 meeting, according to Murphy. She says if trustees sign off on the new buildings, a bond issue proposal would go before Laramie County voters in November.
