The second annual Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial 5K run/walk will take place in downtown Cheyenne at 9 a.m. on May 9.

The 5K run will kick off Police Week and all proceeds from the run will benefit the Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.

The Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial was initiated in 2011 as a combined effort by several Cheyenne area law enforcement agencies. A charity was organized to raise funds towards the design and production of a bronze sculpture that will honor all Wyoming Fallen Peace Officers.

The sculpture will be created by a Wyoming artist and will be displayed in the capitol city. Over 60 Wyoming Peace Officers have been lost in the line of duty, but none are forgotten.

Those wishing to run or walk can register at Foot of the Rockies in Cheyenne or online at Active.com.

Donations can be sent to the Wyoming Law Enforcement Memorial Fund to P.O Box 1493, Cheyenne, WY 82003, or in care of Warren Federal Credit Union Foundation at 114 E. Seventh Ave.
For more information on the run visit the Cheyenne Police Department website.
