A natural gas leak forced the evacuation of the Cheyenne  Municipal Building Friday afternoon.

No injuries or damage were reported.

City employees and the public were evacuated from the building at 2101 O’Neil Ave. at 2:49 p.m. when the odor of natural gas was smelled inside the building. Employees and the public were relocated to the parking lot just west of the municipal building while Cheyenne Fire & Rescue personnel along with employees from Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power searched for the cause of the natural gas smell.

Officials found a small leak in a four-inch natural gas line in a utility room on the second floor of the municipal building. The natural gas line going into the building was shut off, and employees and the public returned to the building at 3:40 p.m. when officials deemed it was safe to return.

Repairs to the natural gas line have been scheduled. The Municipal Building is scheduled to operate under normal business hours on Monday, April 13, 2015.
