The 18-year-old high school student accused of seriously injuring a University of Wyoming student at a Halloween party has made his plea in court.

Isaac Fredrick Garcia of Cheyenne pleaded not guilty before Judge Jeffrey Donnell in Albany County District Court today. Garcia is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault.

Garcia, who is a student at Cheyenne East High School, is accused of punching 20-year-old Luke McConville during a fight in the early morning hours of November 1, causing serious injury. McConville was air-lifted to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. for treatment.

Garcia has been released on a $10,000 signature bond. His attorney requested that Garcia be allowed to visit his father in Colorado for Christmas, which Judge Donnell allowed.

A trial has been set for April 29 through May 1.

Aggravated Assault is a felony punishable of up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
