Fatal Shooting In Riverton

RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — One person is dead and another seriously injured after a shooting at the Center of Hope Alcohol Detoxification Center in Riverton.

Police Capt. Eric Murphy says one person who was not a client entered the center on Saturday and began shooting, killing one person and injuring another.

Police surrounded a shirtless, heavyset man who held his hands in the air as officers surrounded him after the shootings.

Witnesses said residents were told to hide in a bathroom to protect themselves while the shooter was in the building.

Authorities say no staff members were injured.
