Cheyenne Police: No Arrests In Saturday Shooting, D.A. To Decide

A spokeswoman for the Cheyenne Police Department says the investigation is continuing in connection with a Saturday fatal shooting incident.

But as of Monday morning, no one had been arrested in the incident.

Alex Farkas says details of the case have been forwarded to the Laramie County District Attorney for a decision on possible charges.

According to a Monday morning news release from Cheyenne Police, Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Oxford Drive on a report of a domestic disturbance. When they got there they found a 38-year-old man had been shot several times. The man was declared dead at the scene.

Officers contacted a man who claimed to be the shooter and detained him.

Police Release Details Of The Investigation

Police say a preliminary investigation found that there had been a loud physical and verbal disturbance between the man who was later found shot and a woman in the apartment in the complex. The shooter, who lived in an upstairs apartment, heard the noise, picked up a handgun, and went downstairs to intervene. A disturbance happened in the stairwell between the apartment that resulted in the 38-year-old man being fatally shot. Farkas says that while several other people were in the area of the gunfire, no one else was injured.

Police have so far not released the names of anyone involved in the shooting.

The case remains under investigation.
