The Chairwoman of the Cheyenne Mayor's Council on Disabilities says people with various physical limitations can still be productive and deserve the respect of others.

Anne Picot was left confined to a wheelchair by a childhood case of polio in her native Britain. But she says that didn't prevent her from working into her 60's and owning her own business.

She says that while many people with disabilities may face challenges not faced by others, they should still be viewed with respect and as having value.

She says in her case when she was able to overcome the physical barriers of getting into a building, she was "able to do the same job as the next person". She notes being in a wheelchair didn't prevent her from getting educated and using that education productively.

She says she wants employers to realize those with physical disabilities can still be productive employees and should have the same opportunities as everyone else.
