Converse Avenue South Of Roundabout Closure

Converse Avenue, south of the roundabout under construction at the intersection of East Pershing Boulevard/East 19th Street/Converse Avenue, will be closed for six weeks starting early Tuesday, August 20.

Motorists northbound on Converse Avenue from Lincolnway will not have access into the roundabout. Motorists will be detoured onto Chestnut Drive to Henderson Drive and then back up to East Pershing Boulevard.

Southbound traffic on Converse north of the roundabout will be allowed to enter the roundabout but will not be allowed to continue southbound on Converse Avenue. Motorists will be detoured to Pershing Boulevard, then to Henderson Drive, then to Chestnut Drive and then back onto Converse Avenue.

Converse Avenue is being closed so the southern portion of the roundabout can be built.The cost of the roundabout is $4.5 million with the Fifth Penny Sales Tax funding the street, sidewalk and storm sewer improvements. The Board of Public Utilities is funding the water improvements. During construction, all businesses will be open with public access.
