A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says that agency hears more complaints about people speeding and using cell phones while driving than any other topics.

Officer Dan Long says police probably get more complaints about speeding motorists, especially in school zones, than any any other single issue. He says police are undertaking a city-wide effort this week to crack down on speeders

Have you seen people talking on their phones while driving? Long says police continue to get a lot of complaints about that, even though that's now been illegal in Cheyenne for several years (hands-free phones are allowed).

Long has said in past interviews that cell-phone violations are by no means committed mostly by non-residents (who may not be aware of the ordinance). Police continue to cite many Cheyenne residents for using cell phones while driving.

The offense typically carries a $125 dollar fine in Cheyenne.
