The Cheyenne Police Department says  225 ''Part One'' crimes were reported in the city in April and 248 in May, according to a report published on the department's Facebook page.

Part One Crimes are defined as homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault, stolen vehicle and larceny. Categories showing an increase in May over the previous month included rape, with 4 reported in May compared to 1 in April, burglaries, which increased from 17 to 21 between April and May, and simple assault, with 99 in May compared to 75 reported cases the month before.

The biggest single increase in any category was in larcenies  which increased from 122 in April to 145 in May, according to the report.
