A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department is reminding motorists they are required by law to stop when a school bus is flashing it's red lights.

Officer Dan Long says the police have been getting complaints about people not stopping when the bus lights are flashing, and says officers will be watching closely for motorists who ignore the lights.

Violators are liable for a $225 fine, according to Long.

He also reminds drivers the laws on flashing lights apply anywhere there isn't a physical barrier between where the bus is parked and traffic--including "cutout" areas where the buses may be dropping off or picking up passengers.
