A Cheyenne breast cancer survivor is the grand prize winner of the General Mills "Honor Your Hero'' contest and will be featured on Cheerios boxes sold in Safeway stores across the nation this fall. Heather Blakely-Voyles was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2010 at the age of 32. She received a bi-lateral mastectomy and a hysterectomy  in addition to undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation. Today her cancer is in remission, and she says her experiences have taught her that it's important to know your risk factors for cancer and to do monthly self examinations.  She says she didn't do the self-examinations and is lucky that her doctor caught the cancer, "otherwise I probably wouldn't be here today". She says breast cancer can affect anyone, young or old, male or female. Blakely-Voyles is the co-chair of the Wyoming Kids for the Cure committee and volunteers for the Susan G. Komen Wyoming Race for the Cure, which will be held August 11 in Cheyenne.
