Congressional candidate Liz Cheney took an opportunity Tuesday on the Laramie Live morning show to respond to criticism from rivals who question her ties to Wyoming.

Cheney sparred with other congressional contenders in a debate Monday at the University of Wyoming.

Rex Rammell, who has only lived in the state for a few years himself, described Cheney as a 30-year Virginia resident and establishment politician who should "quit with the lies." His statement was met with a mix of boos and cheers from the audience.

Cheney said her relatives moved to Wyoming in 1907 because they valued their freedom and rewards for "grit and determination."
