UPDATE:

An armed man threatening suicide prompted the lockdown of five schools in east Cheyenne this (Tuesday) afternoon.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says officers were called to Cahill Park around 1:30 p.m. after a man with a gun threatened to kill himself.

"After about an hour of negotiations and talking with this individual, we were able to talk him out of the vehicle and transport him for treatment for his suicidal thoughts," said Malatesta.

"That lockdown was lifted (around 2:20 p.m.) as soon as we had him in custody," said Malatesta. "No officers or anybody else was injured in the event."
