If you're like me, middle aged, then you might have a belly that you're constantly packing around. And frankly, it gets a bit irritating most of the time. But now there's hope.  Yogurt and other foods have been marketed to flatten your belly, but there are other foods that will help to get the job done. Here are 5 probiotic foods that can help to flatten your stomach better than yogurt. Have fun with this!

  1. Dark Chocolate - Numero Uno! I love dark chocolate anyway and it's good to know that it can help to flatten an unwanted belly. The reason for dark chocolates success is because the microbes in your belly love to feast on this and thus transforming into an anti-inflammatory compound.
  2. Green Olives - Another one of my favorites. They have been known to reduce bloating in the belly and especially if you have problems with IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
  3. Sauerkraut - This is basically fermented cabbage. Yum, right? However, it's properties provide natural compounds that contain very potent cancer-fighting agents and belly slimming benefits. It's also very rich in what is called Lactobacillus bacteria, and even more than the more popular yogurt. The next time you buy sauerkraut, look to see if it contains live and active cultures and buy that one.
  4. Spirulina - You have probably seen this greenish blue powder in health food stores and, or you have put them in your shakes. Research has found that it is very effective in not only growing good cultures in the body, but also helps to kill harmful, belly bacteria. Good stuff!
  5. Green Peas - The Japanese have been very successful in bringing this vegetable to light and have found that green peas contain Leuconostoc Mesenteroides, which is a probiotic that helps to activate and energize your immune system. Peas also contain lactic and bacteria that help to produce the bodies "second skin" that runs through the bodies digestive tract and helps to take out belly bugs and other toxins.
