Twenty-seven block parties will be held in Cheyenne tomorrow (Tuesday) night as the community celebrates Neighborhood Night Out.

Now in it's ninth year, the event is designed to bring neighbors, businesses and police together to recognize and prevent crime in the community.

"Really what this is all about is strengthening those community ties," said Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta.

"(It's) a great way to get to know your neighbors (and) engage with the officers in a non-working type of way," he added.

Malatesta says those who don't have a party going on in their neighborhood are welcome to attend the police department's party.

"Come on down to the one we're doing down at the Depot," said Malatesta. "We'll have food and drinks down there (and) a DJ who's a police officer."
