Wyoming Woman Killed in Fiery Rollover Crash on I-90
A Wyoming woman is dead following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Johnson County, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
It happened around 9:47 p.m. last Thursday, June 1, at milepost 44.7 on Interstate 90, about 11 miles north of Buffalo.
According to a fatality crash summary, 40-year-old Delayne Renner was behind the wheel of a GMC Terrain and had just crested a hill when she failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and entered the median.
"The GMC clipped a delineator post and drove parallel to the roadway with the passenger-side tires in the median and the driver-side tires on the paved shoulder," the summary reads.
The summary goes on to say, "The GMC continued north until it impacted the end of a bridge rail. The GMC continued north across the bridge deck, where it rolled approximately 1 and 3/4 times, coming to rest on its driver's side facing west. During the crash, the vehicle caught fire and was completely burned."
It's unknown whether Renner was wearing her seat belt, and the summary didn't list any possible contributing factors.
This is the 57th fatality on Wyoming's highways in 2023 compared to 38 in 2022, 2021, and 2020, and 68 in 2019 to date, and the first fatality in Johnson County so far this year.
