Wyoming Woman Dead, 3 Injured in Crash Near Meeteetse
A Wyoming woman is dead and three others injured after a driver failed to stop before turning left onto a highway, causing a two-car collision over the weekend in Park County.
Vicki Smith, 56, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to a report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The three people who were injured were not identified in the report, and the extent of their injuries was not detailed.
The crash occurred at roughly 11 a.m. Saturday when a Subaru Legacy, westbound on Lower Greybull Road, failed to stop before making a left turn onto Wyoming Highway 120.
As the Subaru turned, a northbound Ford F-150 towing a camper trailer swerved left in an effort to avoid a crash. However, the two vehicles collided roughly head-on.
The driver and passenger of the Subaru were both thrown from their vehicle. The Ford ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned, causing the trailer to become detached.
The report does not specify which vehicle Smith occupied, but she is identified as having been a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Driver inattention is being investigated as a contributing factor in the wreck.
The road surface was dry and weather was clear at the time of the crash.
