Wyoming Sex Offender Arrested On Felony Charges
The sheriff says 43-year-old Jeffrey R. Lewis of Rock Springs was arrested Monday for failure to report a change of residence and failure to report a change in employment status. Both charges are felonies under Wyoming law, carrying penalties of up to five years in prison and/or a $1,000 fine each.
Lewis was convicted in January of sexual abuse of a minor, second degree. Convicted sex offenders in Wyoming are required to register with the state Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) through their local sheriff's office. Besides being photographed and fingerprinted, they are required to provide information on their vehicle, where they work and live, and other information.
The information is then posted on the DCI website.
