A 70-year-old Rock Springs man is facing several charges after allegedly driving through a cemetery fence and damaging 23 headstones with his vehicle on Sunday.

According to a release from the Rock Springs Police Department, officers were called to a home on Jefferson Street in Rock Springs On April 21 on a report of a drunk man in the yard of a home. Police say the suspect, identified as 70-year-old Douglas Rodda, told them he had been trying to get home and had gone to the wrong house.

Police noticed that Rodda's pickup, which was parked nearby, had noticeable damage, including grass stains on all of the tires, bent running boards on both sides and extensive damage to the undercarriage.

Further investigation turned up a fence at the Rock Springs Cemetery which had been driven through, as well as tire tracks through the fence leading to about 23 headstones which had been damaged.

Rodda was arrested for driving under the influence and additionally cited for hit and run, no insurance and failure to maintain a single lane of travel
