Wyoming Has The Second-Lowest Percentage Of Left-Handed People
Happy International Left-Handers Day. Observed every year on August 13th, the celebration honors lefties, who now make up an estimated 10 to 13 percent of the world's population.
Oddly, Wyoming has the second-lowest percentage of southpaws in America. In a 2009 study, lefthanders comprised 9.8 percent of Wyoming's population. Only South Dakota has a lower percentage of lefties.
Lefthanded people account for 11.5 percent of the population nationwide; 13 percent of men and 9.6 percent of women. States in the northeast have the highest concentration of lefthanded people. Maine has the highest percentage of lefties, with 13.8.
