Earlier this morning Wyoming coach Dave Christensen fired defensive coordinator Chris Tormey.

Christensen has named defensive line coach Jamar Cain as interim coordinator.

Christensen says he felt a change was needed now to give the team the best opportunity to win its remaining four regular-season games.

He says in a statement that the Cowboys defense has not performed up to expectations over the last two weeks when UW lost to Colorado State 52-22 and San Jose State 51-44.

UW is giving up 31.6 points and 465.8 yards per game this season.

Tormey had been Wyoming's defensive coordinator for the past two seasons and was the head coach at both Idaho and Nevada as well as an assistant at Washington, Hawaii and Washington St. before coming to Wyoming

The pokes will have a bye this week before returning against Fresno St on November 9th.
