The sheriff's office emphasizes that no credible threat exists to any Sublette County schools at this time.

However, extra security will remain in place at all Sublette County schools throughout the day as a precaution. Schools are operating as usual.

Authorities in western Wyoming are investigating a reported threat against an elementary school.

The Sublette County Sheriff's Office and Sublette County School District No. 1 on Wednesday announced that Pinedale Elementary School received a phone call shortly before 8 a.m. That call included a "generalized threat."

The district immediately contacted the sheriff's office and enacted its crisis management plan, according to a joint news release.

Following an initial investigation, the Sublette County Sheriff's Office determined the threat was not imminent. Investigators are still looking into the phone call.

All Sublette County School District No. 1 schools will continue to operate on a normal schedule.

However, the district and the sheriff's office will continue to implement heightened security measures through the remainder of Wednesday.

That call, which evidently came from a cell phone located at Journey Elementary School, was ultimately determined to be a prank, according to the Natrona County School District.
