Wyoming (1-0) comes off the big win over Missouri last week, 37-31.

Texas State (0-1) lost their opener on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Texas A&M, 41-7.

The Cowboys and Bobcats are meeting for the fourth time. UW leads the series 45-10. They won the last meeting in the series, 45-10, in Laramie during the 2017 season. Their only visit to San Marcos came back in 2013, and that resulted in a 42-21 loss. That game was marked by a lengthy weather delay with lightning and heavy rain.

Texas State played two quarterbacks, Gresch Jensen, and Tyler Vitt, in a wide-open, spread, up-tempo attack. Their star on defense is linebacker Bryan London II, who is No. 1 among active FBS players with 345 career tackles. UW’s Logan Wilson is second on that list with 329 career tackles.

3 Things To Watch:

  1. How will the Cowboys deal with the weather? The forecast calls for sun and 97 degrees at kick-off. Wyoming had some cramping issues in last week’s win over Missouri. Now throw in more humidity and hotter temperatures than what the Pokes are used to, and that equals a concern. Even during his press conference earlier this week, Coach Bohl addressed that saying they underestimated their hydration for last week. He stated they’ve got a better plan in place to deal with how hot it will be on the field.
  2. Can the passing game improve? Starting QB Sean Chambers went 6-16 for 92 yards in the first game. He missed a couple of open receivers in the end zone for touchdowns. Chambers told KOWB’s David Settle, “I didn’t throw the ball as well as I wanted to.” Chambers said his very critical of himself and some throws he wishes he could take back, but he has to move forward. “You’ve got to get better from week-to-week, and that’s what I strive to do this week.”
  3. First road game of the season? Coach Bohl mentioned that this is still a young and inexperienced football team and that being in a different environment changes what you can control. Bohl is interested in how his team responds. He said he’ll lean on a veteran coaching staff to get the players ready and put them in a position to give their best effort to try to beat Texas State.

Wyoming is a 7-point favorite over Texas State going into today’s game.
