UPDATE: (3:41 P.M.) Laramie County District Attorney Scott Homar says Alice Uden has waived extradition and as soon as they can go get her she will be brought back to Laramie County where she will face one charge of 1st degree murder.   

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Cold Case Team, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department announce arrests in cold case murder investigations.

According to a news release, on September 26, 2013, Alice Louise Uden (74), of Chadwick, Missouri was arrested on the charge of First Degree Murder filed by the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ms. Uden is charged with the murder of her ex-husband, Ronald Holtz (25), who disappeared in late 1974 or early 1975. Ms. Uden is currently incarcerated in Christian County, Missouri, pending extradition to Wyoming.

On September 27, 2013, Gerald Uden (71), husband of Alice Uden, also of Chadwick, Missouri was arrested on three counts of First Degree Murder filed by the Fremont County Attorney’s Office in Lander, Wyoming. Mr. Uden is charged with the murders of his ex-wife Virginia Uden (32) and her two children, Richard Uden (12) and Reagan Uden (10) who disappeared in September 1980. Mr. Uden is currently incarcerated in Christian County, Missouri, pending extradition to Wyoming.

Ronald Holtz, a U.S. Army veteran, disappeared in late 1974 or early 1975. A recent search of an abandoned mine shaft in rural Laramie County, Wyoming, resulted in the recovery of skeletal remains which were subsequently identified as Ronald Holtz.

In September 1980, Virginia Uden and her two sons, Richard and Reagan were reported missing. Over the past 33 years various agencies have worked on these investigations. These agencies have included the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office, the Fremont County Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Wyoming National Guard, the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, the Laramie County Fire District, the Cheyenne Fire and Rescue and the University of Wyoming Anthropology Department.

The DCI Cold Case Team was created in late 2012 and consists of DCI agents, an FBI agent, DCI Crime Laboratory Scientists and DCI Intelligence Analysts. This team works in conjunction with local, state and federal agencies, as well as independently on unsolved homicide cases.
