Wyoming Car Thief Gets Prison Time After Violating Probation
A 27-year-old Worland man who stole a car in Cheyenne more than four years ago has been sentenced to two to four years in prison after, once again, violating his probation.
According to court documents, Mathew Fenton stole a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse from 511 Monte Carlo Drive on May 18, 2013. He pleaded guilty to the charge as part of a plea agreement and was sentenced to five years of probation on Feb. 12, 2015.
On Thursday in Laramie County District Court, Fenton admitted to violating his probation for the third time and asked Judge Catherine Rogers for "another chance" on probation.
"I was in the wrong," said Fenton. "I really feel like if you give me another chance I can do it."
But Rogers was unsympathetic to Fenton's plight, telling him, "You haven't grown up one iota since the first time I saw you."
"For God's sake, you're almost 28 years old and you're still talking about drinking with your buddies and hooking up," she said.
