How bad are the Pokes this year? Their 4-13 record marks Wyoming's worst start since 1973-1974 when the Cowboys finished 4-22.

Their current .235 winning percentage ranks among the lowest in the 114-year history of the program. With 14 games left to play, the 2018-2019 team may set a record for futility in the modern era.

The 1973-1974 and 1958-1959 teams were both 4-22, a .154 winning percentage. In 1959-1960, the Cowboys compiled a 5-19 record, a .208 winning percentage. The school record was set in 1923-1924 when Wyoming finished 2-13, a .133 winning percentage.

Wyoming has had four losing seasons in the past 20 years. In 2015-2016, the Pokes went 14-18. The Cowboys were 10-21 in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 and 11-17 in 2003-2004.

There is some good news for Wyoming fans. We still have two games left against San Jose State. The Spartans are 3-12 this season and, like the Cowboys, are winless in Mountain West Conference play. Something will have to give when the two cellar dwellers meet in Laramie on January 23rd.
