Two Connecticut men are facing felony drug charges after a Wyoming traffic stop led to the discovery of marijuana and a large amount of cash.

According to an affidavit, 20-year-old Javon M. Johnson was stopped on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne on Jan. 5 for following too closely.

Prior to the stop, the trooper noticed a rental car following closely behind Johnson which he believed was traveling with Johnson.

Johnson, who was reportedly extremely nervous, denied traveling with the car, but the trooper was able to catch up with the driver, identified only as Kobe, who said the two had traveled to California together.

The trooper was able to locate Johnson's car at the Rodeway Inn near Sapp Bros. and a K-9 was called to the scene.

The dog alerted on the car and approximately seven ounces of marijuana, two grams of liquid THC and $14,000 in U.S. currency was found.

The trooper then located Kobe, who was rooming with 22-year-old Benjamin D. Zucker at the SpringHill Suites on W. Fox Farm Road in Cheyenne.

Zucker reportedly admitted to possessing the felony amount of marijuana in Johnson's car.

Zucker said that Johnson paid him $10,000 to drive an SUV from California to Connecticut and that Johnson placed three large duffel bags in the SUV, which Zucker believed contained 60 to 100 pounds of marijuana.

Johnson and Zucker were arrested and charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana. Johnson was also charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and felony possession of marijuana.

The two's bonds were set at $5,000 cash and posted on Jan. 7. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for Jan. 15 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
