WYDOT To Begin Chip Sealing Projects in Laramie County

WYDOT officials advise motorists in the Cheyenne area that chip seal season is underway on state roadways. The Capital City's own Knife River Corporation is the contractor for the work which will continue into early August.

Travelers in the following locations will experience delays due to pilot car operations and motorists are advised to allow themselves a little more time to reach their destination if passing through these areas on the following dates:

June 28 - July 3

Horse Creek Road (WYO 211) milepost 8.4 to 17.6 and milepost 35.0 to 42.9

July 8-10

Yellowstone Road (WYO 219) milepost 2.0 to 5.5.

July 11

I-25 East Service Road (Hynds Blvd.) milepost 1.1 to 3.7

July 12-19

Otto Road (WYO 225) milepost 348.4 to 359.3.

Following frontier Days on July 29 - August 2

Terry Ranch Road (WYO 223) milepost 0.0 to 5.7 and the I-25 Service Road (Also Terry Ranch Road) milepost 0.0 to 2.7 and the US 85 East and West service roads (near the port of entry on South Greeley Highway).

The chip sealing work WYDOT does each summer repairs damage, provides a skid-resistant surface, and saves taxpayer money by preventing water from getting into the pavement through cracks and potholes. This extends the life of the roadway by five to seven years.

Motorists are urged to be alert when driving through the work zones. They should watch for flaggers, pilot cars, and slow to obey the posted speed limits. They should also increase the distance between the cars that they’re following to minimize the possibility of damage caused by loose gravel.
