According to a fatality crash summary, Jeffrey Montez was behind the wheel of a northbound Chevrolet van when he lost control on the snowy highway, causing the van to spin off the right side of the highway, enter the ditch, and roll approximately two times.

Montez was not wearing his seat belt and died from his injuries.

Speed Possibly to Blame

The summary lists speed as a possible contributing factor.

Montez is the 21st reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year.

According to Hudson's Funeral Home, Montez, whose obituary should be completed soon, was from Lander and would have celebrated his 43rd birthday on May 25.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Mount Hope at Hudson's Funeral Home at 680 Mount Hope Dr. in Lander at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11.
