Woman Denies Hitting Husband With Truck Outside Casper
A Natrona County woman accused of hitting her husband with a truck and threatening to stab him with a hunting knife denied three charges brought against her Friday in Natrona County District Court.
Carly Lynn Jackson, 36, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and battery as well as one misdemeanor count of property destruction. She could face over 20 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted on all charges.
Court documents say Jackson was arrested Dec. 4 after her husband called police to say Jackson tried to hit him with a white Chevy Tahoe at a home on El Rio Road.
Witnesses told police they had gone with Jackson to help her retrieve some of her belongings. Court records show divorce proceedings between jackson and her husband.
While Jackson was at the house, loading belongings from the garage into the back of the Tahoe, her husband pulled up and seemed upset, according to a witness.
Jackson's husband reportedly told her he would not release any of their joint property without a Natrona County Sheriff's deputy present.
Jackson and her husband argued in the garage and, according to the affidavit, Jackson got angry and threw a staple gun at her husband.
The husband told police he started to walk away, and Jackson slapped him on the back of the head.
He also told police, according to the affidavit, that Jackson had a hunting knife in her hand. She allegedly grabbed the hoodie of his sweatshirt as he was walking away and yelled "I'm gonna stab you," according to court documents.
The husband was able to get away and get into the house. Jackson reportedly dropped the knife and went back into the Tahoe.
Jackson's husband reportedly walked back into the garage, toward the carport. Jackson allegedly accelerated as if to run him over.
Jackson allegedly hit the exterior corner of the house before reportedly backing up and accelerating forward again.
The husband told police the truck hit him on the right buttock, knocking him to the ground.
A witness told police he saw Jackson hit the side of the house and a parked van, according to court documents. He assumed Jackson was trying to hit her husband.
Later, as Jackson and the witness drove away, court documents say the witness asked Jackson what she had been thinking, to which Jackson did not respond. The witness said she appeared very calm and called her attorney.
According to the witness, Jackson allegedly told her attorney that she tried to run over her husband "a couple of times."
Deputies collected the hunting knife as evidence. They also photographed the damage to the side of the house, a van, a PT Cruiser and the Chevy Tahoe, according to court documents.
Jackson remains free on bond.
