Voters in Laramie County Fire District #1 on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a $3.1 million bond for equipment purchases and fire station improvements.

Two-hundred and thirteen people cast their ballots, with 178 of them, or 83.57 percent, voting for the bond.

Funds from the six-year bond will be used to purchase fire trucks and firefighting equipment to equip LCFD#1's new fire station to be constructed at Archer.

The district also plans to replace older trucks and equipment as well as make needed improvements at its existing fire stations on Allison Road and Terry Ranch Road.
