Victims in South Cheyenne Shooting Identified, Suspect in Custody
The Laramie County Sheriff's Office has identified those involved in a south Cheyenne shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured.
Captain Linda Gesell says deputies were called to the 5000 block of S. Greeley Highway around 10 a.m. Friday after 33-year-old Kristen Smith, of Cheyenne, reported being shot.
Smith was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for treatment and released.
Deputies found the body of 61-year-old Joseph S. Tortolito, of Cheyenne, in a nearby junk pile. An autopsy determined Tortolito died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Gesell says 25-year-old Frank McHenry is suspected of shooting the two with an AR-15, but it's unclear why. She says none of the involved parties had any connection to one another.
McHenry, who was arrested after trying to flee from deputies in the area, is being held on unrelated charges. Gesell says he'll be charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, felony interference with a peace officer, attempted escape and larceny of a motor vehicle.
The case remains under investigation.
