Saturday (June 26) was a messy one for drivers traveling on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon.

Interstate 70 was closed in both directions on Saturday due to a massive mudslide near the No Name exit. The closure occurred between Glenwood Springs and Dotsero; there was also another closing point established at West Rifle due to the incident.

As of 8 p.m. Saturday night, the Colorado Department of Transportation shared via Twitter that 1-70 eastbound lanes are now open.

Then, as of 10:22 p.m. Saturday, all westbound roads were cleared to resume travel.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the mudslide was caused by debris flow from the Grizzly Creek Fire of 2020, which burned for about four months and devastated more than 32,000 acres of land.
