Three Facing Felony Pot Charges After Traffic Stop Near Cheyenne
Three Muncie, Indiana men are facing felony drug charges after a Wyoming trooper found marijuana in the trunk of their car.
According to an affidavit, 22-year-old Nicholas Baxter, 23-year-old Charles Cross and 22-year-old Jerry Cross were pulled over for tailgating on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne on Feb. 27.
The traffic stop led to a search of the car and approximately two pounds of marijuana were found in the spare tire compartment.
Through interviews, the trooper learned the men had purchased the marijuana in California for $800 a pound. They planned to split it up when they got back to Indiana.
The three were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
The men are currently jailed on $5,000 cash bonds. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for March 7 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
