Municipal elections in Wyoming are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not affiliate with a political party.

Candidates have until the end of the business day on Friday, May 29, to file for the August primary election.

Orr said of her candidacy ''I firmly believe now more than ever, continuity in leadership is critical for the city of Cheyenne to come out of this crisis stronger than ever. ''

Coppinger said he has "spent 35 years listening to the people of Cheyenne," giving him a good idea of what local residents really want.

So far only two candidates have said they are running for mayor of Cheyenne in 2020.

Incumbent Mayor Marian Orr has not said whether she will run for re-election, although she did say recently that she ''loves being mayor."

Patrick Collins is a former Cheyenne City Councilman and a local businessman active in the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.

James Johnson says he would cut the mayor's salary from $95.000 per year to $75,000.

The stand-up comedian and Cheyenne native recently announced his plan to challenge incumbent Marian Orr next year.
