The Laramie City Council is scheduled to consider extending the suspension of a deeply unpopular Surface Water Management Program through at least the end of the Fiscal Year on June 30.

A resolution to that effect is on the council's November 18 agenda (Tuesday night) for the regular City Council Meeting.

The council voted in Aug to pause the fee for 120 days, after implementing the fee for the first time in July. The pause was to allow time to develop a new policy after the original fee generated widespread criticism. The program was approved by the council in December of 2024.

What Does The Resolution Say?

You can read the resolution here

According to the resolution  "This extension allows for continued Council deliberation and review of the Surface Water Management Program in public meetings that provide ongoing opportunity for resident input, to enact such amendments and modifications as the Council determines feasible and necessary, and to direct staff on the nature and extent of public notification to be undertaken as part of enacting modifications to the Storm Water Management Program. This decision reflects the Council’s commitment to a transparent, data-informed, and collaborative process, one that ensures final policies balance the need for reliable infrastructure investment with community values and financial equity"
