Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says recent federal decisions on the military are good news for F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James, during a recent visit to the base, announced federal plans to spend an extra $50 million this year and $350 million over the next five years to improve operations at the nation's three nuclear missile bases, including  F.E. Warren.

Steenbergen says the money will go to items as simple as making sure air force personnel at bases in cold climates have adequate winter coats, as well as more complicated issues involving adequate personnel and equipment to to the job.

Steenbergen says recent national attention to operations at nuclear bases, including a cheating scandal, "shed some light" on operations at the bases highlighting the need for funding improvements.
