Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says volunteers are needed for the annual Cheyenne Christmas Parade on November 29.

The parade is a long-time Cheyenne tradition, and many locals consider it to be the unofficial kickoff of the holiday season.

The parade stretches back over three decades, with this year being the 35th such event. This year's theme is "Candyland." Organizers expect bright lights, festive floats, holiday cheer and even a Cheyenne appearance by Santa Claus, direct from the North Pole.

Chamber Works To Carry Parade Legacy Forward

Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says the chamber, which is in charge of organizing the Christmas Parade, says the chamber takes the job of presenting the parade very seriously. ''We are going to have another wonderful Christmas Parade in Cheyenne. It's one thing the chamber continues to work on to try to carry the legacy forward of those folks that put many yeas of their lives into making sure that the Christmas Parade would go forward. Certainly Marie Crader and her husband worked on that a long time.

There are several ways to support the parade, according to the parade website:

  • Purchase a poinsettia to help support the tradition

  • Volunteer to Help—great for individuals or groups who want to get involved

  • Register your float and share your holiday spirit.

The parade will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on the 29th and follow the normal Cheyenne parade route.
