The City of Cheyenne's Historic Preservation Board has decided to recognize St. Mary's Cathedral in Cheyenne with it's annual LeClercq Jones Award for outstanding historic preservation.

Board Chair Stephanie Lowe says the church structure, which has been preserved for over 100 years, was one factor in the award. She also says the renovation work that has been implemented on the cathedral in recent years has done a great deal to restore the historic character of the building.

And she says the roof work that has been done on the church, while it may not be immediately visible, is an important factor in preserving the integrity of building structure.
