Safe Kids Wyoming has announced a "Halloween Safety Event'' Friday night in Cheyenne for kids ages 2-10.

Safe Kids Injury Prevention Coordinator Stephanie Heitsch says the event will provide a safe alternative for families featuring treats, games and Halloween activities.

Heitsch says the event will be held at the Little Lambs Preschool parking lot at 4776 Mountain Road from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heitsch says motorists will encounter some construction work in the area, but will be able to navigate around it.

The event will feature trunks of cars with Halloween treats, with children able to safely go from trunk to trunk without encountering traffic and other safety hazards. There will also be games and other attractions at the preschool.

The event is free, but Heitsch says really scary costumes that may frighten younger children will be discouraged.

The event is sponsored by Safe Kids Wyoming, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, The Wyoming Department of Health, Little Lambs Preschool, AMR, and the Cheyenne Police Department.
