A 58 year old Rock Springs man has been sentenced to seven prison sentences for offenses dating back to the early 1970s.

Prosecutors described James Joe Nordwall as a "serial rapist" and ''one of the most dangerous men this court will ever have to deal with". Green River District Court Judge Richard Lavery on Friday sentenced Nordwall on four counts of First Degree Rape and three counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree.

Lavery sentenced Nordwall to seven separate 45-50 prison sentences.

While Lavery ordered the four rape sentences to be served concurrently (at the same time) and issued the same order in regard to the three sexual assault sentences, he did order the rape and sexual assault sentences, each grouped together, to be served consecutively with one another.

The charges against Nordwall involved four female victims, two of which were children aged 12-14. The other two victims were women in their 30s. The case against Nordwall was investigated by the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.
