City of Laramie, Game And Fish Warn About Increasing Human-Bear Encounters

The City of Laramie is reminding people to be bear-aware as reports of human-bear encounters across Wyoming are increasing.

That's according to a post on the City of Laramie Facebook page.

The post says Wyoming Game and Fish is reporting more bear-human encounters statewide. Not just in the usual backwoods areas, but also in residential zones, with the problem related to bears getting food provided by people.

According to the post, "wildlife managers across the state are responding to numerous calls from the public about bears accessing unsecured attractants such as garbage, bird feeders, and domestic livestock such as chickens, goats, ducks, backyard bees and their associated feed and supplements."

Bears Are Even Trying To Get Into Homes

And it's not just outdoors either. We are seeing widespread reports about bears trying to get into homes, campers, and trailers through unlocked doors and windows. The problem is likely to remain through September and into October.
