Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. across the state today as candidates try to garner nominations for a number of state and local offices.

The race which has  gotten the most  attention is the Republican gubernatorial primary, where incumbent Matt Mead is trying to win a second term against GOP challengers Dr Taylor Haynes and State Superintendent Cindy Hill. The winner of today's Republican primary will face Pete Gosar, a pilot who is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Wyoming's veteran U.S. Senator Mike Enzi faces primary challenges from retired Air Force Lt. Col. Bryan Miller of Sheridan, as well as Arthur Clifton of Cheyenne, Thomas Bleming of Lusk and James Gregory of Jackson. Several Democrats are vying for their party's Senate nomination, including Charlie Hardy and Rex Wilde of Cheyenne and William Bryk of Brooklyn, New York, who has promised to move to Wyoming if he is elected. Al Hamburg of Torrington, who has made numerous runs for state office in the past, is also running in the Democratic primary.

Other notable state races include the GOP primary for State Superintendent and Secretary of State, with no incumbents on the ballot for either office. Democrat Mike Ceballos will be his party's nominee for Superintendent in November.

Laramie County voters will choose nominees for the Laramie County Commission, where three seats are open, as well as legislative and city council seats. Voters can register at the polls with proper identification.
