Poll: 2018 Wyoming Governor’s Race
Former Wyoming congresswoman Cynthia Lummis announced recently that she won't be running for governor in 2018.
Lummis, who is a Republican, had also served as Wyoming Treasurer and in the state legislature before serving from 2009 to 2017 as Wyoming's lone representative in the U.S. House. Many political observers considered her the frontrunner in the race for governor until she announced she wouldn't be running next year.
Incumbent Governor Matt Mead is term-limited from running for a third term as Wyoming's chief executive. So far two candidates, Republican Bill Dahlin of Sheridan and Democrat Mary Throne of Cheyenne have announced they are running.
But speculation has centered around a number of other candidates, including Treasurer Mark Gordon, Secretary of State Ed Murray, former physician Taylor Haynes (who ran as a write-in candidate in 2010 and for the GOP nomination in 2012) and Cheyenne attorney Harriet Hageman.
While at this point any number of other candidates could also enter the race, we were curious about the early support for some of the people who are thought to be interested in running.
