Looking to stop their current losing skid, the Laramie Plainsmen are on the road Friday night to face the No. 5 Cheyenne Central Indians in the Capital City.

Laramie (1-3) has lost to Rock Springs, Gillette, and Natrona County over the last three weeks.

Cheyenne Central (2-2) enters off two consecutive victories, over Rock Springs and Gillette.

The Plainsmen got off to a good start last week with a 7-0 lead over No. 4 NC, but a turnover got the Mustangs right back in the game. Natrona went on to score 44 straight points before a late score by LHS provided the final score of 44-13.

Now, Laramie takes on an improved Indians team that loves to throw the ball. Central is the No. 2 passing team in the state at nearly 230 yards per game. Junior QB Dawson Macleary leads the attack. His favorite targets are wide receiver Andrew Johnson (No. 2 in 4A in receiving – 105.5 yards per game) and tight end Brady Storebo (No. 7 in receiving – 59.2 yards per game). Linebacker Carter Lobatos is ranked No. 2 in defensive points at 21.5 per game.

In the video above, Plainsmen head coach Clint Reed spoke about the rivalry, reflected on the loss to the Mustangs and where they can build from, plus, facing a better Cheyenne Central team, and getting their pass defense ready.

Laramie is led by senior Janson Adair, who is No. 3 in receiving at 76.8 yards per game. He has scored seven total touchdowns. Junior quarterback Garrett Dodd is fifth in passing at 146.2 yards per game and No. 9 in all-purpose yards at 159.2 per game. Adair also sits fourth in defensive points (17.8) per game, right in front of teammate Colter Nunn (15.2 ppg).

This series started in 1909. Tonight will be the 135th meeting between the two schools. Cheyenne Central leads the all-time series 66-62-6.

The game starts at 7 p.m. from Riske Field in Cheyenne.
