The Wyoming Highway Patrol has released more details about a fatal crash that shut down U.S. 26 west of Guernsey on Monday.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near milepost 7.

The patrol says a Honda Accord was eastbound when it entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a semi.

The driver of the car, Malachi Brehm, 32, of Parachute, Colorado, was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

The patrol says it was clear and the highway was dry at the time of the crash.

U.S. 26 between Interstate 25 and Guernsey was closed until approximately 2 p.m. as crews worked to clean up and investigate the scene.
