Thanksgiving is a week away and Christmas is now a little more than a month in the future. If you drive around town, you are seeing a lot of Christmas lights and other decorations up.

Of course, some of the big retail stores have been featuring Christmas displays since September, and holiday ads are already plentiful on the airwaves. But for this poll, we are thinking more about private citizens and their homes.

Some Have Decorations Up Now

There are a couple of schools of thought on this. First of all, some people just love Christmas and feel like it's never too early. The longer they can celebrate the season, the better.

There are even a few folks who leave up Christmas wreaths on their doors year round.

Then there are people who feel like Thanksgiving should be over before we start looking ahead to Christmas. For those using real trees for Christmas, putting them up this early also means they are prone to drying out.

Others think it should at least be December before the trees and lights go up.

Then there are folks who think anything more than a couple of weeks ahead of December 25 is jumping the gun.

And it's worth noting that for all of the buzz around Christmas, not everyone celebrates the holiday. Non-celebrants range from people who aren't Christians to those who feel the whole thing is just way too commercialized. And some folks, particularly those without kids, don't have a problem with the holiday so much as they just don't want to go to the trouble of putting up and taking down decorations. Electricity isn't as cheap as it used to be, either.

So where do you stand on the issue of Christmas decorations? Take our poll and give us your opinion!
